Daniels Diet - Day 2

Good morning,

Most people find day 2-4 the hardest. This is because your body has been used to eating filling foods like bread, meat, dairy etc. Now you are not eating them - your body has to go through a couple of days of withdrawals and  to adjust, this is when you often crave certain foods and can feel hungry.
However if you push through this time you will find it easier, your tummy starts to shrink in size and you don't need so much food to feel satisfied. This means you will be able to fit into your clothes better. One of the best everyday health tips i can give you is to eat less and better quality food - you will live longer and healthier.

Also some people may get more emotionally sensitive and even  irritable. This will pass.
if you are having extreme sugar cravings and feeling very weak physically - this indicate sugar is a major issue in your life and now is the time to overcome this issue. Make sure you are eating regularly and add some dried fruit and protein to help. If you get too weak and are feeling faint you may have to do a modified Daniels Diet i.e. you stay on Daniels Diet but include small  amounts of protein like eggs and fish. work hard on giving up sugar  and it wont be long before you can complete Daniels diet properly.

Good Proteins are very much a part of this Health Plan

Vegetable Protein is found in legumes and pulses, brown rice, almonds, pistachios, walnuts, Brazil nuts, split peas, chickpeas, lentils, seeds and the bean family and tofu (which is why I have included tofu recipes for you).
One or more of these proteins should be included in every main meal.

My Day.
40 minute walk - with heavy back pack and carrying small weights. This idea is to show people that if you can not afford or like going to gyms then there are simple ways to do exercise.  Weight bearing or resistance exercise is the best for weight loss and toning your body plus when you start  to breathe deeply it is very good for you.
if you are feeling weak on the diet - don't exercise - other than general walking. Listen to your body, if it feels good then do whatever exercise you want - if feeling down don't.

Lemon and prunes
Veggie juice - while writing this blog.
Lunch Salads
Afternoon teas - green tea and nuts
fruit if i feel hungry or need to boost my blood sugar.
Dinner - baked vegetables and salad.

Protein is important - and tofu, tempeh and lentils  are good protein

8-12 spinach leaves
1 cup carrot

¼ teaspoon cumin

  1. Wow, i just watched Arinas' clip at the bottom of your blog site Philip. What an encouraging, inspiring testimony to Daniel't Diet and your ongoing work with Arinas. This is how this blog is helping me so much already and it's only day two. I'm not having to do daniel diet alone. There are others out there who i don't even really know but i feel connected with you and we, together, form a community, a 'family' so to speak that has a common goal - the desire to live a 'healthy and happy' life, with no regrets and living life with a passion. Thanks Arinas for sharing. I watched another Youtube clip this morning that brought tears to my eyes. just google 'michael w smith youtube healing rain.' be sure it's the clip uploaded 21/9/11. it goes for 10 minutes. Whether you have a faith in God or not, it will touch you. Michael W Smith shares some of his life's story around the theme of love / lack of love growing and how that has impacted him. it touched me because one of my goals with daniel diet is asking for God's grace and love to heal my thought life and my heart, and today, through Michael's clip, i am beginning to experience God doing exactly that. i know, in my heart of hearts, that my unhealthy lifestyle and personal struggles for the past 50 years are so linked with my emotions. praise God he doesn't want me to stay in this place and he loves me just as i am and he will and is in the process of bringing my emotions back home to himself, healed and made whole. that excites me. one of my favourite scriptures is Isaiah 40:31 . . 'Those who hope in the Lord, will renew their strength. they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.' ps. i think we all want our hearts healed. we're more similar as a human race then we think we are in this. i don't know you, but know that i love you. Good luck everyone. love, Caz

  2. Helen here again, on the second day of diet and seems to be going well, even
Having visitors over for this evening so told them we are eating vegetarian at present.
    Including a quinoa recipe

    Quinoa Porridge
    ½ cup Quinoa
    2 dates chopped
    2 cups Water
    1 teaspoon Cinnamon powder
Stevia liquid to sweeten (5 drops)
    Small green apple grated

Soak Quinoa in liquid overnight or at least several hours.
Add other ingredients (except apple) and simmer gently for 10-15 minutes.
Grated apple can be added part way through cooking process or add it raw when ready to serve. Serve topped with whatever you like, so its tastes wonderful e.g. LSA or ground nuts, berries, coconut…

This mixture should be consistency of slightly thick custard, if too ‘gluggy’ add more liquid. This quantity serves 2 people.
